Mohsany Kanganpur Hafiz Afrogh Hassan Qureshi was a famous educationist, writer and religious leader who served the people of Kanganpur as a Headmaster for twentysix years. Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi was born on 5th March 1925 at Habrri District Karnal, Haryana, India.

The name of his father is Abdul Ghaffar. He was a Patwari in Irrigation department. He performed his services at District Hisar (Haryana), village Mangala (East Punjab), village Habrri (Haryana), village Bhana and Sirsa (Haryana ).

The name of the mother of Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi is Firdosi Begum who was married with his cousin Abdul Ghaffar on 10th May 1909. She was really a religious and spiritual lady. Honourable lady Firdosi Begum was born on 6th April 1891 at Shahpur District Muzaffar Nagar U.P, India.

Her father Molana Hafiz Saeed Ahmad was a religious scholar who got his education from Molana Qasim Nanotvi (Founder of Daral Uloom Deoband) and Molana Rasheed Ahmad Ganghohi. Firdosi Begum proved very kind towards poor and needy people. She was a best Quranic teacher.

Wherever she lived, she arranged Quranic education for girls. The names of the brothers of Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi are Haji Gul Hassan Qureshi, Dr. Ijaz Hassan Qureshi and Altaf Hassan Qureshi. The birthplace of all these three brothers is Habrri District Karnal (Haryana).

At the time of the partition of Subcontinent, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi migrated with his whole family in November 1947 and settled at Lahore.

Marriage, Life History of Wife & Children

Mohsany Kanganpur Hafiz Afrogh Hassan Qureshi was married with Iqbal Jahan Begum on 3rd April 1949 with simplicity at Lahore. Iqbal Jahan Begum was born on 8th July 1928 at Kocha Cheelaan Delhi in the house of Naseer Ahmad. She was first offspring of her parents so loved very very much by her parents.

At the age of five years, she started receiving Quraic education from her elder aunty (sister of her mother). Iqbal Jahan Begum learnt how to read and write Urdu and basic mathematical skills from her dear father Naseer Ahmad.

Unluckily, Allah Almighty blessed no offspring to Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi and honourable lady Iqbal Jahan Begum. In October 1972, Iqbal Jahan Begum adopted a baby girl named Zakia Iqbal Begum. Zakia Iqbal Begum was daughter of the only brother of Iqbal Jahan Begum named Saghir Ahmad.

Later in 1995, Zakia Iqbal Begum was married with Abdul Jabar who was son of the sister of Iqbal Jahan Begum.

While living at Kanganpur, Iqbal Jahan Begum made arrangements to provide Quranic education to the girls of local community. She has a very soft heart and always helped poor women of Kanganpur locality. Her house became a social and religious center.

All the women and girls who received Quranic education from Iqbal Jahan Begum called her “Apa Jee” with love. She treated all the learner girls as of her own offspring. She helped the poor girls with clothes, food and rupees.

Job History & Further Education and Religious Contributions

After marriage, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi Sahib started his job as a Government teacher in Punjab Education Department. As a teacher, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi worked in High school Kalar Syedaan District Rawalpindi, middle school Marala District Sialkot, middle school Gondlaanwala district Gujaranwala and high school Pattoki District Kasur.

In 1955, after passing graduation, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi got admission in Bachelor of Teaching at Central Training College Lahore. After obtaining the degree of Bachelor of Teaching, he appointed at high school Bhai Pheru where he served for three years.

Meanwhile, privately, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi earned the degree of Master of arts. After this, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi Sahib appointed as Headmaster at Government High School Kanganpur where he joined on 31th May 1959 and retired at the same post and station after completing the age of sixty on 4th March 1985.

Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi was a religious leader as well. The people of Kanganpur did not offer namaz e taravi in the month of Ramzan. Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi introduced namaz e taravi among the masses of Kanganpur.

He laid the foundation of a mosque inside Government High School Kanganpur on the basis of self help. Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi also started Mehfil e Shabina in the month of Ramzan every year. These Mehfil e Shabina were arranged in the ground of Government High School Kanganpur.

Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi Sahib also started offering namaz e Jumma at the mosque of Government High School Kanganpur. In the khutba e Jumma, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi explained some verses of Holy Quran. In this way, Khatam e Quran was completed in the khutbaat e Jumma within 26 years.

His Residence in Kanganpur and Departure to Lahore

Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi spent his life in a house located at Mohalla Kals Kanganpur. It is a double storey house. We are presenting the photographs of this house as well for our visitors.

When he went to Lahore permanently, he gave this house to his employee Syed Maskeen Ali Shah. Now his offspring is living in this house. A room demolished now. Overall this house is in a good condition.

After retirement as Headmaster Government High School Kanganpur, Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi Sahib spent some years at Kanganpur. His double storey house was located at Mohalla Kals Kanganpur. Syed Masqeen Ali Shah was class IV employee of Government High School Kanganpur.

Syed Masqeen Ali Shah served Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi too much. It was the intense desire of the people of Kanganpur that Hafiz Afrog Sahib permanently settled here but the family members of Hafiz Sahib wished that he lived at Lahore.

So he left Kanganpur permanently and started living at Ichra Lahore. Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi died on 20th October 2016. It is our believe that Hafiz Afrog Hassan Qureshi Sahib definitely transferred to paradise. He buried at Miani Sahib Graveyard Lahore.
