Introduction of Ali Anwar Ahmad

Ali Anwar Ahmad is a great & famous Punjabi writer, Poet, Novelist and Short-story writer. Ali Anwarr was born on 30th April 1963 at village Chahal Kohna near Kanganpur. The names of his parents are Ahmad Din and Khurshid Bibi.

Ali Anwarr Ahmad has two wives. The name of his first wife is Haseena Anwar and second wife’s name is Azra Parveen Nanhi. Ali Anwarr Ahmad has six daughters and four sons.

Mr. Ali Anwarr is a well educated man. His educational qualification is M. A (Urdu) and B. Ed. Mr. Ali Ahmad joined school education department as a teacher and retired from Government service as an Assistant Education Officer Markaz Kanganpur in 2012.

As Punjabi Short Story Writer and Poet

He started his literary journey as a Punjabi Poet in 1981. He wrote his first short story when he was studying in 7th class. Mr. Ali Ahmad started writing Punjabi short stories regularly in 2001.

It’s our personal observation that Mr. Ali Ahmad is an excellent critic as well. He wrote a lot of critical articles on newly published Punjabi books.

Total books of Punjabi poetry, short stories and novel written by Ali Ahmad are fifteen. Ali Ahmad wrote one poetry book, one book of novelette and thirteen short stories books.

Books

First of all, Ali Ahmad started his career as a Poet and wrote a Punjabi poems book named “Akh Sumandar Hoi” in 2001. He wrote a novelette “Shakaran” in 2014.

The thirteen books of Punjabi short stories of Ali with publishing years are “Insan Tay Sap” (2002), “Apnay Balad Da Peech” (2003), “Farishtian Da Pind” (2006), “Shesha Tay Hamam” (2007), “Mangtian Di Wasti” (2012), “Anhay Koh Day Qaidi” (Bal Adb 2013), “Wikday Wikanday Lok” (2014), “Bayswadi Raat” (2015), “Tand Tand Maili Chadar” (2016), “Kahanat Kahani” (2017), “Jiway Koi Samjhay” (2018), “Wakrayway Toon Baad” (2019) and “Sufnay Da Qaidi” (2020).

Ali is a distinguish Punjabi writer. According to our knowledge and information, Mr. Ali Anwar is the only Punjabi short story writer who wrote largest number of standard Punjabi short story books in Pakistani Punjab, Indian Punjab and Canada.

Two M. Phil scholars and eight BS Punjabi students wrote their research thesis on the work of Ali Anwar.

Awards

Mr. Ali Anwar won a lot of renowned national and international awards over his books.

The names of some of the awards won by Ali Anwar are Masud Khadarposh Trust Award (3 times), Razia Furukh Award, Sharaq Nizami Award, Shafqat Tanvir Mirza Award by Punjab Institute of Language Art & Culture, Dhahan International Award Canada and Shair Muhammad Sohota Award by Ishaq Sohota Welfare Trust Registered.

Others

For the service of mother language Punjabi, Ali Anwar availed premature retirement from Government services ten years before the retirement date. So after retirement, he worked hard in this context and published his books almost in every year.

Last but not least, Mr. Ali Anwar is part of Punjabi Language Movement. He wants to see his mother language Punjabi as medium of instruction in the educational institutions of Punjab.
