According to a Urdu commemorative stone affixed with the building of Primary block, Government High School Kanganpur was originally founded as Government Primary School Kanganpur in 1969. This foundation stone was laid by Malik Karamdad Khan PCS Deputy Commissioner Lahore on 17th December 1969.

Up gradation as Government Elementary School

The school was upgraded as Government Elementary School Kanganpur in April 1985. The names of the Headmasters with their qualification and duration are Ch. Fazal Din B. A. B. Ed (07-05-1985-19-07-1986), Ashiq Hussain M. A Punjabi, B. Ed (19-07-1986-30-06-2005 Retired), Muhammad Aslam Parvez M. A. M. Ed (01-07-2005- 22-12-2005 Incharge), Muhammad Sadiq Baqapuri M. A. M. Ed (23-12-2005- 16-07-2006 Death), Muhammad Aslam Parvez M. A. M. Ed (17-07-2006-11-09-2006), Atiq Ur Rehman Ishaq M. A. M. Ed. L. L. B. M. Phil Education, Ph. D Scholar (12-09-2006-14-10-2010 Promoted as Senior Headmaster) and Muhammad Aslam Parvez M. A. M. Ed (15-10-2010-06-04-2011 School upgraded).

Up Gradation as High School

Then the school was upgraded as Government High School Kanganpur. The inauguration ceremony of Government High School Kanganpur was opened by Ch. Ahsan Raza Khan the then MPA & Parliamentary Secretary Literacy and Non Formal Education Punjab on December 2009.

The names of the Headmasters (BPS 17) with qualification and duration of Government High School Kanganpur are Muhammad Saeed Iqbal B. S. Ed, M. A English, Dip TEFL (06-04-2011-09-01-2012) and Muhammad Imtiaz Awan M. Sc, M. Phil Education (10-01-2012 to till now).

The inauguration ceremony of Wall and Main Gate of Government Elementary School Kanganpur was opened with the hands of Ashiq Hussain Headmaster Government Elementary School Kanganpur On 30th June 2005.

Inauguration of two rooms was done with the hands of Madam Shimim Sohara in October 2012. 

Renovation of Primary block was opened by Matee Ur Rehman Khan District Education Officer (Secondary) Kasur in December 2013.

With the efforts of Muhammad Imtiaz Awan, a UK based NGO “Hum Qadam” released funds for the construction of two double storey blocks of 24 rooms.

The foundation stone of these 24 rooms was laid by Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan Member of National Assembly NA 140 and Syed Arshad Hussain Shah Vice Chairman Muncipal Committee Kanganpur on 16th December 2017.

 The opening ceremony of these 24 room was opened by Col(R) Sardar Muhammad Hashim Dogar Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Department Punjab accompanied by Madam Naheed Wasif Chief Executive Officer District Education Authority Kasur and Mian Maqsood Ahmad District Education Officer(Secondary) on 30th March 2019 with Special efforts of Syed Arshad Hussain Shah Vice Chairman and Syed Qaisar Hussain.
