The foremost vulnerable will be population in developing countries. Certainly with 1 / 4 million people being added to the world population each day, the necessity for grains and all other food will reach unprecedented levels.

  1. 10000 years ago, there have been 10 million people in the world.
  2. By 1850, world’s population was 1 billion
  3. 80 more years to succeed in 2 billion in 1930
  4. 45 years, it doubled again from 2 billion to 4 billion in 1975
  5. 12 years to succeed in 5 million ( 1987 )
  6. World’s population was 6 billion in 1999
  7. And by the present year 2022, it’s 8 billion and by the year 2030, it’ll be 9 to 10 billion expected.
    There are about quarter of 1,000,000 people added to the planet per day. This exponential growth is usually happening in the developing nations.

Food Production

More than 99 percent of the world’s food supply comes from the land, while but 1 percent is from oceans and other aquatic habitats. The continued production of an adequate food supply directly hook in to ample fertile land, water and energy.

Because the human population grows, the wants for these resources also grow. Whether or not three resources are never depleted. On a per Capita basis they’re going to decline significantly because they must be divided among more people.

At the present , fertile agriculture land combined with alarming rate. The shortage of productivity is that the major cause of current food shortages.

Water’s Need for Production

Water is another critical item for all crops. Massive amount of water requires during the season for cultivation.

In fact, agricultural production consumes more water than any other human activity. In many countries, people face shortage of fresh water. Competition for water resources among individuals, regions, countries and associated human activities are already occurring with the present world population.

Water resources, critical for irrigation, are under great stress as populous cities, states and countries require and withdrawn more water from rivers, lakes and aquifers per annum . A serious threat to maintaining future water supplies is the continuing over use of surface and ground water resources.

Use of Fossils

Fossil energy is another prime resources use for food production. Nearly 80 percent of the world’s fossil energy is getting used by the developed countries.

The intensive farming technologies of the developed countries use massive amounts of fossil energy for fertilizer, pesticides, irrigation and for machines as a substitute for human labor. In developing countries, fossil energy use primarily for fertilizer and irrigation to assist maintain yields rather than to reduce human labor inputs .

Because fossil energy may be a finite resource, it’s depletion accelerates as population needs for food and services escalate. Thus, cost of fuel increase everywhere.

Strategies foe The Future

Strategies for the future must be based on the conservation and careful management of land , water , energy and biological resources needed for food production. Yet none of these measures will be sufficient to ensure adequate food supplies for future generations unless the growth in the human population simultaneously curtail.

Several studies have confirmed that to maintain a relatively high standard of living throughout the world, the optimum population achieved. Strategies for the conservation of land, water, energy and biological resources implement effectively. Maintaining a sound and productive environment all over the world is essential.
