Manpreet Kaur was born on 7th February 1999 at Delhi, India. The names of her parents are Satwinder Singh and Paramjeet Kaur. She has only one brother named Jaspreet Singh. Cooking and traveling are her best hobbies.

Educational History

Manpreet Kaur passed his Matriculation in 2014 from Saraswati Sen Secondary School Delhi. She passed her F. A in 2016 from Saraswati Sen Secondary School Delhi. She obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 2019 from University of Delhi. Manpreet Kaur got the degree of Master of Arts in History and Archaeology from Central University of Haryana in 2021 after submitting her research thesis entitled “Partition Induced Human Trauma, Pain and Sufferings Through Poems”.

She conducted her research under the supervision of Dr. Abhirandan Kumar, Associate Professor of Department of History & Archaeology University of Haryana. Manpreet Kaur analyzed the poetry of eight Poets of different regional languages of Sub-Continent. It is a great Honour for Kanganpur that the pathetic poetry of Irshad Sandhu about partition of 1947 included in research thesis of Manpreet Kaur. The five selected poets and poetess who included in this research thesis from Sub-Continent are Faiz Ahmad Faiz (Urdu, Pakistan), Shiv Kumar Batalvi (Punjabi, India), Amrita Pritam (Punjabi, India), Irshad Sandhu (Punjabi, Pakistan) and Nida Fazli (Urdu, India). Moreover, the poems of three English poets and poetess named W. H. Auden (Anglo-American) and Sujata Bhatt (India) a part of her research thesis.

Chapters of Thesis

Manpreet Kaur divided her research thesis into five different chapters. The names of these five chapters are “Introduction”, “Review of Literature”, “Partition Poems in Regional Languages”, “Glimpse of Partition Poems in English Language” and “Conclusion”. The titles of poems of all eight Poets and poetess are”Sube-e-Azadee by Faiz Ahmad Faiz, “Dudh Da Katal” by Shiv Kumar Batalvi, “Aj Aakhkha Waris Shah Nu” by Amrita Pritam, “Assi Jaggo Mitti Ujade” by Irshad Sandhu, Yahan Bhi Wahan Bhi” by Nida Fazli, “Partition” by W. H. Auden and “Partition” by Sujata Bhatt. These literary personalities painfully described the sufferings of Partition of 1947. The poets and poetess who wrote poems about this horrific cataclysmic event have been read. Their poems being analysed in the thesis ” Partition induced human trauma pain and sufferings through poems”. Manpreet Kaur says, “It’s my pleasure that my thesis has shared on this platform.

Others About Thesis

The aim of my work is to make people Understand that the trauma which people faced during partition was similar. We all know that it’s so difficult to leave our homeland and move to another place, it leads to destruction of livelihood. While reading this thesis a rational, optimistic and emotional mindset should be used .To sum up the work in this dissertation a careful study is done on poems of authors who wrote about the partition of India. Attempt to present multilingual poetry is done. It takes generation to come over the trauma faced by people, yet it is necessary for the new generation to know the partition induced human trauma, pain and suffering.

The remnants of partition of India are still fresh in our lives and are very crucial part of the modern Indian history. The objective of this dissertation work is to explain and articulate the grief, pain, sufferings of people during migration by analyzing partition based poems.
